Each year the FOOTBALL NSW 'State Titles' are conducted as part of the recognised pathway for State Team selection. The best players from 2-3 local Associations trial for selection in various age groups. 16 players are then selected to represent each age group at the State Titles.

In 2014, four (4) players from the KANWAL FOOTBALL CLUB were selected to represent Far Metro North in the Under 14's. What a fantastic effort.

Congratulations: Tyler, Rhys, Jack and Caleb

The 14's Boys titles were recently held in Orange NSW, 30 June - 4 July and the Boys had a very successful campaign, coming 4th out of 9 Regions;

  • METRO/NORTH (Gladesville-Hornsby & Manly-Warringah)
  • METRO/SOUTH (Bankstown, Macarthur, Southern Districts)
  • METRO/WEST (Blacktown, Granville, Nepean)
  • METRO/EAST (Canterbury, Eastern Suburbs, St George)
  • METRO/FAR NORTH (Central Coast & Ku ring gai)
  • METRO/FAR SOUTH (Football South Coast and Sutherland)

Here are a few comments from the parents of the boys;

Early Morning start in fog

"Wow, 16 in the team and 4 from Kanwal, how awesome for the Club! The boys played 8 games in 5 days in very cold conditions, coming fourth overall. It was a great opportunity for their future development into representative soccer with 'scouts' from Football NSW attending the games".

"All 4 boys made their family and Club very proud".

"Talking to a lot of the other parents on the team (rep players) they were all very surprised with how good our boys played and were asking why they are not playing reps! So the Club should be very proud that they are producing players of this calibre".

"Rhys scored 2 goals in their 8-1 win over Country Riverina. I hope the club is as proud as we are".

"The first game that they played the temperature was about -2 degrees. They have never played in that sort of cold before and it was funny to see them all laying on the heated tiles in the laundry when we got them back to the house. Now it's back to business for the boys as they try to go through undefeated for the 2nd year in a row for the mighty BULLS".

WELL DONE BOYS, your Club is very proud of you and we wish you all the very best for the season ahead and in your footballing futures.

The Kanwal Football Club 'Skills Academy' for Term 2 has been a great success with 20 of the 24 available spots having been filled.

We are fortunate to have had the services of Adam Kwasnik as our Academy Coordinator and Coach. As a former striker for the Central Coast Mariners, Adam recently retired from professional competition football and now holds the position of Community Football Coordinator with The Mariners.

Run over 10 weeks, the Academy participants have learnt about different topics of the game picking up specific skills as the program unfolded. A large amount of each session is based around repetition with participants having a ball constantly at their feet.

The players have an opportunity to put what they have learnt and practised over the session into a game situation between themselves. They thrive on this opportunity and love to have fun and express themselves in a game situation with what they have been learning.

At the end of every session the players revise the new skills they have learnt and the topic they have worked on. Again, the players are full of energy in answering questions and it is great to see and hear after 75 minutes just how much their minds absorb.

With the Term 2 Skills Academy coming to a close, Adam would like all parents to keep in mind;

"At the grassroots level, as long as your son or daughter is playing and training with a smile on their face, you parents are doing a fantastic job! Keeping them active and helping them interact with other children through the game of football is a credit to all parents.

Kanwal Football Club has a very long and proud history. I hope everyone involved with the club stays positive and helps them move forward in a positive direction with enjoyment and development of all registered players".

The age bracket focus for this Academy was U9-12's but in the near future (hopefully Term 1, 2015) we would like to offer another age bracket to being U5-8's.
